U.S. Attorney’s Office Joined with Federal Bar Association and Law Schools to Hold
Second Annual Sacramento Region Diversity Career Fair
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The second annual Sacramento Region Diversity Career Fair, held on Sept. 30, 2023, connected employers with diverse legal candidates for future and current job openings. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California, the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law, the UC Davis School of Law, and the Federal Bar Association Sacramento Chapter made the announcement following today’s event.
The Diversity Career Fair is the first legal career fair in the Sacramento region with an online platform where employers can post legal jobs and law students and attorneys can submit applications. The Diversity Career Fair grew significantly this year to include 70 participating employers and was expanded to include an interview component. The Diversity Career Fair also provided employers, law students, and attorneys with the opportunity to connect in person, and included a panel discussion featuring federal and state court judges and the Circuit Executive for the U.S. Courts for the Ninth Circuit. A wide variety of employers, bar associations, law students, attorneys, and judges attended the Diversity Career Fair held at McGeorge School of Law campus.

I am honored to serve as the 2022 President of the Sacramento Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. Thank you to Stephen Duvernay for his service as our 2021 President, effectively leading the FBA during our second year of the pandemic. Congratulations to our 2022 board:

In 2022, we look forward to resuming in-person FBA programs, introducing new programs that build community and provide professional development opportunities for our FBA members, and continuing to strengthen the bench-bar connection through judicial and attorney profiles. For example, this spring, we’ll be bringing FBA members a judicial profile of the Eastern District’s newest district judge: Jennifer L. Thurston. We also plan to continue our collaboration with other bar associations, such as the webinars featuring all four federal districts in California that we co-sponsored with the California Lawyers Association and all the FBA chapters in California, and with the affinity bar associations that make up the Unity Bar. As part of this collaboration, we will be sharing programs from other bar associations and groups that may be of interest to our FBA members.
The FBA’s first program of 2022 is an example of community building, professional development, and collaboration—the Sacramento Region Diversity Career Fair, which will be held in-person at McGeorge School of Law on February 26, 2022, and is co-sponsored with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, the University of California, Davis School of Law, and all the affinity bar associations that make up the Unity Bar (invitation and additional information below). Our Diversity Career Fair is the first of its kind in the Eastern District of California with an online platform where employers can post legal jobs and attorney and law student applicants can submit resumes. Participating employers represent the wide breadth of legal practice in the Sacramento region from the state and federal courts, law firms of every size and practice area, to government agencies at the city, county, state, and federal level. Our Diversity Career Fair also includes in-person programs: a panel discussion about practicing law as a diverse attorney, a job fair where attorneys and law students can meet a wide range of employers in-person, and a reception that brings our community together after two years of enduring COVID-19.
The Sacramento Region Diversity Career Fair is a celebration of our diverse legal community and we look forward to seeing you there.
